It's a Republican thing I gather, When Bobby Hiaircut was governor here he raised all kinds of fees and then denied during the last election that he had raised taxes. Maybe that's why the voters handed him his arse on a plate.

I believe that was a tactic devised by Reagan the Perfect.

So, why does it continue to work for the rest of them? That's what I don't get.

Some voters will vote for a horse's arse as long as it is red.

No state tax and though my dads land taxes are higher than mine, he still only pays 600.00 a year property tax for 262 acres with a huge 5 year old five bedroom house with a barn and also a fairly new built shop large enough to park six Cat D-9's in ... and maybe a 6x6 articulated dumptruck or two. Can't say all red states fuck people. While it's true it does cost just over 9% sales tax to buy from a store, if you raise your own hogs and beef for killing and grow a garden .. theres no need to pay sales tax buying it from a store. Same with buying a car, I know a few folks that when buying one from someone they'll talk a few minutes, exchange ''cash-money'' for titles and write down on the bill of sale that they traded the car for a horse ( and horses don't require papers or to be registered or value proved ) and in TN horses are still on the books as a legal form of transportation ... no tax on even trades, lol, lol, lol. Hell yeah .. yee-haw!! But our internet service does suck.
car for a horse - I love that!

Here in Ohio it's about $60 a year for a car, and no personal property tax. I'm surprised the residents haven't burned the statehouse down over that.

The GOP is bad? How about a trillion dollar porkulus and the heathcare deal, then all of a sudden Obama is sooo fiscally responsible. He is what he says.

That was a rhetorical question, Pete.

I suppose that's why you felt it necessary to ask!!!

Isn't the bailout paid back? Although it was nice of Obama et al to redo the rr crossing down the street from me.

It is nice to live in a blue town in a blue county. Nobody even seriously tries for George Miller's seat in the House. He truly is a great one though.
