Ever notice how.......?

How so many of the right wing blowhard pundits who go on, ad nauseum, about "Strong Defence" and "The Troops" have never served in the military? Personally, I don't think it really matters much whether a given candidate has served in the military, but these guys make a big deal of it. Trust me, I did my time in the service, there are just as many idiots in the military as there are anywhere else. But, so many of these uber-patriotic, troop loving "Great Americans" have some sorry excuse about why they just couldn't seem to do their duty. Assholes.

I know, this is not an economic issue. But I just felt the need to juxtapose it with the other "ever notice" thread.

Regards,
Dave

In fact many of them would in honesty be called draft dodgers. They sure can talk the talk but can't walk the walk.. Never made it into service because by the time I was of age we had run out of wars, and I am 4F in any case. Had one brother in the air force and the other in the army.

Dick Cheney immediately comes to mind.

Won't go fight himself but damned willing to send your kid. What a POS.

I think economics is a great spot for this thread. History would tell us that our economic woes are in great part, due to the fact that we don't have any good wars anymore. Not these stupid little "don't fire untill fired upon" wars, but all out win or learn another language wars. The economic cycle has always been Boom, Bust, War. Now we have the booms and busts, but the wars ain't cuttin it. I blame it all on nuclear weapons. It's hard to pull out the stops when you and your opponent both have the means to completely annihilate each other.

You just explained why I like nuclear weapons. You know a friend once commented, (Referring to Germany), "They used to be badass too. Until the Liberals over there loaded it up with expensive entitlements and turned it into a pussy ass country that's afraid to fight."

My response?

"Sounds like the world needs more Liberals."

Fuck war.
You love it so much, you go fight it next time.
I'll be there to salute your coffin.

Regards,
Dave

Wars are started by old men and fought by young men.

This may be the most disturbing things I've read here. That anyone could wax nostalgic about how "wars just ain't what they used to be" is really..... um..... over the edge. If you're trying to be funny, you failed. If you're on the level you've got some serious issues.

Oh, and your "economic cycle"? Pure horseshit. World War II? Yup. Any other wars? Not so much.
