Greatest country in the world???

How can anybody still believe this of the United States?

""Every one of the E.U. countries has:

•Universal free health care.
•Free or nearly-free college.
•Paid Family Leave for at least four months.
•Complete care of all elderly.
•Robust funding of schools.
•All sorts of help for the jobless and the poor.
•Workers enjoy mandatory paid vacation with a minimum of four weeks off (some countries are almost double that).
•Women having full equal rights. Abortion and birth control is free and easily available in all but two E.U. countries (Malta and Poland). Most of their constitutions have what we don’t have — an equal rights clause for all women.

The list goes on. And not just social safety net policies. Portugal has stopped mass incarceration and made possession of drugs legal — and has seen drug use go down because they treat drug addiction as a medical problem, not a crime.""

""Countries like Slovenia and Germany not only have free college, they will let any foreign student come there and attend college for free. Yes, you read that right. They will even let American students come to their countries and get a free four-year degree! What? You say you can’t speak Slovenian? No problem! They have a whole curriculum taught in English! ""

Rhetorical question right? It's easy to convince people that they're the best, that they're the greatest that don't want to believe that they're not the best and the greatest.
Way back after the first European settlers got here someone came up with the concept of manifest destiny. "By gum, to heck with getting along with the current inhabitants. We deserve to have the entire thing and to hades with these godless savages who're already here!".

The propaganda here is overwhelming. It has convinced a significant number of citizen's that the positives listed are evil...a deadly drag on prosperity.
Additionally the enormous take of the MIC implies serious competition.

Hopefully the EU will let our huddled masses emigrate like we did for them when we were the greatest.

FWIW, Voldemort was a great wizard.

How can it be a great system of equality when one living pay check to pay check, robbing Peter to pay Paul..... going on vacations on credit.....no 401K, savings... house.... WOO HOO their whole live. Not a care in the world.

Get sick go into a nursing home on the rest of the country dime.....

Then someone who played it "smart", saved live within their means get gigged....when they need the same care later in life.

Just not right!

They reject the know benefits because they know their place puts that life beyond their reach. It's American Social Darwinism at work. Cowboy hell bent for leather capitalism. Survival of the fittest. If you can"t compete, too bad.

“A Nation’s Greatness Is Measured By How It Treats Its Weakest Members”

Humphrey

At the Hubert Humphrey Building dedication, Nov. 1, 1977, in Washington, D.C., former vice president Humphrey spoke about the treatment of the weakest members of society as a reflection of a government: “The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”
