Progress. Baby steps.
As usual, NRA backed groups will challenge the law and remains to be seen how the Scotus rules, or they may be better off doing nothing for now.

This one isn't a mass shooting, but this one and half a dozen like it = a mass shooting, and we've got them. Our unwillingness to do either legal or mental health interventions against people like the killer here give us the dead bodies. This guy made himself obviously dangerous before the day finally came.

At least 5 dead in Cleveland, Texas, shooting

Five people are dead after being shot in a Texas home by a suspect armed with an AR-15 style rifle in a horrific series of "execution style" shootings, police said.

A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect, identified by police as 39-year-old Francisco Oropeza, according to ABC station KTRK in Houston.

A judge has issued an arrest warrant for Oropeza and assigned a $5 million bond. Authorities believe Oropeza left by walking or on a bicycle and is currently within a two mile radius of the scene, KTRK reported.

"America's gun" as described. Rapid fire/high capacity, compact and light weight, easy to use. What's not to like?

The authorities are still looking for the killer Oropeza after a day or so and supposedly he is encircles within a 10 or 20 square mile area. But this statement from the local sheriff puts things in perspective regarding guns and Texas.

Quote:
Capers, the sheriff, told reporters Saturday that it could be considered illegal for someone to fire a weapon in their yard in a subdivision like the one where the shooting occurred, but he stopped short of saying that Oropeza broke the law in that regard.

The killer has ben apprehended.

The man accused of killing five of his neighbors with an AR-15 rifle in their Texas home was apprehended by law enforcement agents Tuesday, officials said.

Francisco Oropesa, 38, was taken into custody around 7 p.m. without incident, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.

He was apprehended in Cut and Shoot, Texas, San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon said.

Residents in Texas neighborhood where 5 were killed say gunfire is common but police response isn't.
People in the Cleveland neighborhood where Francisco Oropesa allegedly killed 5 neighbors Friday said gunshots are fired almost every day.

They caught that guy in Texas and I just heard they arrested his wife. Although, not sure if they were legally married.
