Back To Eden Film
This is a great film describing how to use & manufacture mulch, compost, and great soil that will require 90% less water. This is what we do with our land for the trees. I incorporate Legumes to add nitrogen as well.
Paul is very spiritual, but please don't let that stop you from watching this film.

Thanks, bookmarked for later viewing. The stuff you've linked to on this subject and your own experiential knowledge shared is great.

Plus one.
Spiritual is cool as long as it isn't overdone.

It's amazing to see what can be done with intelligent and thoughtful soil management.
I've been considering setting up a small organic garden in the yard. Just a hobby sort of thing. My dad had one for a while when we were kids. Those were the best tasting tomatoes and string beans I've ever had. The corn wasn't bad at all, either. Of course, it was Ohio, the soil there is fairly rich to begin with.

Yeah, I just wanted to see the guys ideas. I watched part of the film, will watch the rest later.
So far, it looks like his ideas are just good, common sense. Wood chips to help hold the moisture in the soil? .....Duh, yeah. I hadn't thought of it and it's so simple, it's brilliant.

The ashes from our wood burning fireplace did a good job of loosening the soil. Plus a soaker hose was great for reducing water usage, especially as it comes from 300 feet below the front lawn. The tomatoes, beans, Bell peppers etc were great - then so idiot shipped in a container full of stink bugs so now the kitchen garden is grass.
