Prostitution; I say legalize it.

If a woman of legal age wishes to sell her "womanly charms" and patrons are willing to pay, I say they have a right to do so. Legalize it, regulate it, (Require health checkups and "safe sex" precautions), tax it and tell the Bible Thumpers "If you don't like it, you have a right to NOT engage in it, so shut up.".

Whadda you say?

Dave

Sure, why not? It's only been illegal here for around 100 years. I'd like to see some means of making "streetwalkers" illegal, just because it's impossible to monitor them for health. But bring on the "cat houses"!

one thing, among many, that i used to like about living in reno nv back in the '70s was the proximity of storey county which had joe confortes mustang ranch which happened to be just 8 miles east of reno. went there once in '75.

it was clean, well run, the girls were clean, and by law had to have regular checkups to continue working.

conforte got nailed for tax issues, iirc, and was last reported supposedly living in brazil.

i have no problems with legalizing it. great idea!

When I lived in Germany, prostitution was legal and good sized cities had small, well-regulated redlight areas (other than Hamburg where it was huge). Even in fairly conservative Augsburg, they had a Hasengasse (bunny alley). AFAIK, there was never any trouble in the area. I bet that there are more hookers in US cities than in German cities. Also, you didn't see streetwalkers like you do here.

Wouldn't bother me any, but I don't get the whole "cash for sex" thing. Seems like paying would sort of negate the act.

Well, until you want to get your freak on and the old lady.......(Looks around)........(Then whispers)...Uh, on second thought, maybe I should shut up now.

How 'bout the "sex for cash" thing? Get that?

Why? Do you enjoy going out to a nice restaurant or do you only eat your wife's cooking?

I'm with TD on this one. Just for grins, I've window-shopped the red-light areas of Amsterdam and Hamburg, but the thought of actually paying for the offered services never really crossed my mind. It must have just been my prurient interest, I suppose.

I've never been inclined either but to me that's a different statement than "I don't get it."

Similarly, I just can't get into titty bars. Not sure why exactly.
