I don't think he will give up his Senate bully pulpit to run for the presidency. So unless the above amendment passes, he is SOL and will remain a senator and espouse his version of Libertarianiasm as he professes to be a true conservative.

It's far more likely that she bought into the notion that the word was associated with colonization. If one looks at the history, there is no reason why it ought be considered offensive and not used. Some academic Marxist started the meme that even innocent words have potential to be harmful to certain groups and have the potential to hurt their feelings. Utter bullshit in this case IMHO. Let's see, currently Asian's are against affirmative action for blacks because they're afraid the black student will displace an Asian in the UC System. My old school's student body is about 43% Asian, thus it's not like they need a hand up. My view is that Occidental and Oriental are just geographical terms, although no longer particularly accurate to describe people. OTOH, Asian has the same problem of being overly broad in scope.
