My son and I were talking yesterday about what has become of whole Everest expeditions for rich Westerners. Reinhold Messner is the exact opposite of all the rich, clueless socialites being escorted to the top of the mountain. If you want to read a good book on the subject, read "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer.
