Deplorables searching for new Speaker
Yes, its a search with multiple elections planned behind closed doors since they do not have a true leader. Plan is to keep this going until a consensus candidate emerges before a full vote in the House. The Israel-Hamas skirmish will give them a lot of much needed cover since this will be another prolonged shit show.
And now there are three factions; re-elect McCarthy, Scalise and Gym.
Scalise's health will be a major issue while as Boehner has said, Gym Jordan is a legislative terrorist and now his only interest is reelecting Trump. He will truly weaponize the House to o after the Biden father and son.
And if no consensus and Trump gets nominated? He will for starters shut down the government to sabotage the economy.

Just keep hammering Gym on shielding a predator in a position of authority and let the remaining pieces sort themselves.

Lovely how they just took a preliminary vote and Steve Scalise is the frontrunner. He who described himself as, "David Duke without the baggage".
The GOP doesn't even try to hide their disgusting racism.

He may or may not have baggage, but he's had David Duke riding on his back ever since he said that.

The last two decent ones (Cheney and Kinzinger) were excommunicated. The rest are a bunch of nihilists, idiots or protofascists with varying degrees of Trump fealty.

Doesn't look pretty to me. The GOP house members have lost their marbles, in the middle of a crisis. We'll see if they can elect a speaker in the next few days. The Suicide Freedumb Caucus is in the driver's seat is how it looks to me.

When your overriding concern is campaigning to remain in office there's little time for legislating and governing.
