A year without "Made in China"
Anyone else want to join in? I've been pretty well avoiding Chinese made goods for the last while, but now I'm looking at ramping it up some more. Trying to get even more fastidious and avoid everything that came from there. At least as much as possible. That caveat is thrown in, because it becomes nigh onto impossible to figure out where every part and sub-assembly comes from. But I just have to deal with what I can.
If I do this, and it won't be easy, I will write (not blog, I hate that word) about my adventures.
Anyone up for joining me?

I'm with you in spirit. I will agree that it is very hard to know where everything comes from though.

Like I said above, Rob, I've been basically doing it for ages. Just looking to ramp it up another notch.
Now, anyone know where I can find a non-Chinese made toaster?

I sprung for a pair of made in Michigan, Carhartt workshorts recently. Patty gave me a look when she saw the price, $40. She then told me I couldn't wear them to work.

I try to buy American when I can. It can be difficult and sometimes I can't afford the difference.

I think the train has already left the station on this issue.
I had the crazy thought that the banks should be made only to do banking, not trade in futures and investment incomes. In other words bring back Glass Steagal. We could leave the banking empire on Wall Street and move the investment empire to Detroit.
