The most expensive repair I've had was to a Japanese car.

I don't need at all a car repair insurance for this 1976 Audi, which is mine since 1988. (Exactly 300000 km when the pictures had been taken some years ago...)

Two Honda Civics (the 94 went to 289,000 miles), one Accord, and one CRV (that went to 303,000 when I drove it to the Bureau of Automotive Repair for salvage). Highest repair was for a Body Throttle sensor on the CRV that was $1200. I was able to avoid a new catalytic converter on the same CRV because my check engine light would turn off for a day or two during smog check season. The 94 Honda did nickle and dime me on timing belts and water pumps. My 2010 Civic has a chain.

My wife 2005 Toyota Sienna is easily the most bullet-proof vehicle I've ever owned. 190,000 miles and 12 years and it still runs like the day we bought it. Periodic maintenance only, though replacing spark plugs at 100K is a relatively major affair (~$600).

I had my 99 M Roadster for almost 12 years and it only required regular maintenance. It was killed @ 92,000 miles and still had the original brake pads and discs.

I like German cars but not the Japanese, they are like refrigerators on wheels. Nothing ever goes wrong with them and they are boring to a fault, and have no character. I had a TOTL Acura (no drama ever) for over 150K miles, but my life brightened when I sold it.

Looking to buy an Audi Q5 to replace my Expedition.

You really don't know how you look from the outside while driving a Supra or a ZX, do you?.

I'm rarely misperceived as one of the cool kids.

The 91 300ZX remains a good looking car.

I've had numerous German (Porsche and Audi) and Japanese cars (Toyota and Mazda) and my Japanese cars have been far more reliable. I generally agree that Japanese cars are a bit more like an appliances than German cars, with the exception of Mazda. For the price and in their respective classes, nothing coming out of Germany compares with the Mazda3, Mazda6 and MX-5 (Miata) in terms of driving dynamics and reliability.
