I heard at least 3 different rioters at the Capitol say that they hoped to find Vice President Mike Pence and execute him by hanging him from a Capitol Hill tree as a traitor. It was a common line being repeated. Many more were just talking about how the VP should be executed.

Rioters went looking for @VP, @SpeakerPelosi, @SenSchumer.

It raises the question of whether there was an organized plan to take hostages.

Hanging someone would have gotten them dead quick, but hostage taking might have gotten an indefinite delay in the certification process, and may well have been the plan.

A crowd that large - and nobody got a free TV. Nothing burned. They must be doing something wrong.

BTW, did you see the video where one of the people started bashing at a window and the other people around him pulled him down and away from the building?

A crowd that large is bigger than most cities. There are good actors and bad actors and everything in between. The civility on display there was absolutely shocking - even after the capitol police pulled the barriers out of the way and let them in. I believe every desk is even intact.

The challenge is that there were a lot of people there and very little actually happened. Remember this?:



Problem is that the crowd was as big as a city. You don't prosecute everyone in a city for every rape, murder, robbery. At least, you don't do it that way in the US. There were a LOT of very peaceful protesters there and, truth be told, the police even opened the barriers to let them in.

And they stayed within the velvet ropes - and no statues came down.
