Thanks Bob, I was Google searching for some specific info on this a few minutes back and here you are with this link. Quite interesting. I will go back and read it again.

You're welcome my friend. I haven't looked too deeply into it but the fact that 'pubbie's have shifted their bias points so far since the '80s was an eye opener, I guess that explains why so many Republicans have left the party, to it's detriment.

The Republicans, far more than the Dems, have politicized reality. They have lots of 'litmus tests,' candidates who don't pass them all find moneyed opponents beating them in the primaries, and individuals are rigidly steered by Rush and Hannity and the ladies at Fox.

So the big split on 'what is truth' on political lines is the result. But truth and reality aren't actually political, and aren't matters of opinion. The big split means a lot of people are wrong.

The majority of cops try to do an acceptable job. Some do an exemplary job. They're obviously not the problem. The problems are the Pantaleo's, the Anthony Abbate's, or the Koon's, Powell's, Briseno's and Wind's. But the larger problem is that when we run into one of these bad cops, the rest of the cops turn into Zeke style apologista's, or McCulloch's who put the fix in with the Grand Jury.

When bad cops aren't held accountable by the rest of the cops or prosecutors, it's not just the overtly bad ones who's integrity should be questioned, and shouldn't be trusted.

We're always carping about how the good Muslims don't speak up about the bad Muslims...but apparently the majority of white America is more than willing to let it slide with the police.

Lets all face it, when you need a officer they are God sent! When pulled over a intrusion of your rights. Or stopped for questioning for no other reason then whatever they feel at the time is warranted.

I for one see them as a necessary fact of life. One that at times will overreact but understand that they see a different society on a daily basis, one I do not know.

I think a more open discussion will come out of this. For me the way the NYPD acted today turning their backs on the Mayor shows just how much needs to be done.

The question isn't whether we need them but whether we need to hold them to the standards we've set for them. We do but we don't.
