I think the "anyone but tRump" sentiment will be still be a factor. It's what helped Biden get elected. Between the culture wars and raging against current and future tRump prosecutions the GQP won't have time to demonize any Democrat candidate ahead of the 2024 election like they did with Hillary.

If Biden retires, it would be Hillary again, with headlines of Putin meddling in the election again. 2016 all over again, but amplified due to Putin's standing over the war in the Ukraine.

Not that I have any inside information but I really doubt Hilary would run again.

Agreed. She's not going to put herself and the family through that mess again.

Trump's popularity within the GOP has just surged 27% over DeSantis because of the indictment.

And if Trump is indicted in multiple jurisdictions late in the cycle, the GOP will find itself with a candidate or candidates who have already been emasculated by Trump. We may be near the time when Lindsey Graham's prophecy ("If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed ... and we will deserve it.") comes to pass.

Its good news. The indictment has not been unsealed yet and lets see then if there is any increased support. And with more indictments on the horizon, there will be more of an uptick for Trump but perhaps its DeSantis supporters now abandoning him and no one else in play that can get any traction.

So Trump gets anointed now and the indictments and details roll.

That's the good part. GOP was hoping to use this time to steam roll Trump and elevate DeSantis. They once again have a Trump problem. I am betting on Nikki as his VP candidate, a friend is betting on MTG. Told him never, she will steal the show like Palin did and Trump won't stand for it.

Desanctimonius must be hating that. tRump's popularity is a roadblock to the Republican nomination for him. He'd love to campaign for the Republican nomination but dares not right now. Rock, meet hard place.

Just what does that say about the surge?

They love a Sex crazed adulterer who lied to, cheated donors gleefully allowing others take the heat. People typically rally around their group member or leader who is attacked by 'the others.' A fellow who was accused of impropriety by government inspectors got a resounding standing ovation at a professional group meeting I was at once. How many of the hundreds knew one damn thing about the merits of the case? Just a handful I'm sure.
