Can''t say as how I'm surprised. We just received correspondence from my home insurance company offering a "free" inspection of our house for external flaws. It wasn't, however, offering to cover the repairs for any issues discovered. I do wonder how much of a kick-back the insurance company gets from the repair company.

Regards,

D-Ray

Sounds to me like you need a new service panel, water heater, and roof...unless you want to be cancelled.

That's right.

The door to the garage may no longer be fire rated if someone painted over the little sticker. I'm sure a few more GFCI's wouldn't hurt anything, maybe some new hard wired smoke detectors...gotta have one of those screeching bastards right next to the cook top. Maybe some landscaping to divert the water away.

Might as well get it done now, because when you go to sell, and THAT inspector shows up...

Chas

PS: I forgot about egress. Inspectors LOVE egress.

Brake out that pocketbook, Don.

D-Ray, as a Lefty, impress your friends and go "Green" with the FSC certified wood as well.
It's only around 50% more money.

I'm not sure how many of my friends would be impressed with a foreclosure, but that is what would happen if I tried to pay for all of the enhancements that have been suggested here (Some of which I don't even understand - GFCI? -but it doesn't take much work as a handyman for me to reach my level of incompetence). I'll have to give y'all some credit for being damn fine salesmen, however.

Regards,

D-Ray

I've run into exactly ONE "Inspector Clouseau" who wasn't a complete dumb ass.

The kind of things that protect us from using our hair dryers in the bathtub - or setting up a tube-based bathroom sound system?

Regards,

D-Ray
