Apparently he resigned two weeks ago. Explains why he's felt free to be so open in interviews recently.

I agree with those who think this claim is BS, either by Bannon or the person who shared it. The New Yorker interview content would have been different if his departure was already scheduled.

Bannon wanted to be fired. That way he could become a martyr for all his Alt-Right fanboys and make more money spewing shit at Breitbart.

This is why Bannon called that progressive reporter and gave the jaw dropping, from The Donald's perspective, interview. He left at the perfect time for him.
