I'm pretty sure if we could find a candidate from any party that is fiscally conservative and socially aware they'd win in a landslide like we've never seen before.
He'd be butchered alive. There is more money in keeping things just as they are.

Besides, it keeps the electorate busy slugging it out with one another, instead of joining up and dragging the man from behind the curtain and stomping a mudhole in HIS ass.

Is Social Conservatism conservative? Is Social Liberalism liberal ?

In the arena of Professional Politicians today, I believe they are all GREEN and Chameleons.

They , like Mitt or Newt, will take any side of the political spectrum that will get him elected. And they will do anything that pays the most or offers them the power to make more $$$$$.

The sign for the Republican and Democratic Parties should be "$$$$$$$", because that is what politics has been for too many years. GREEN $$$$$

Anyone that has sent their Representative a letter or made a phone call to them, no matter what the side or topic, will receive a response telling you how important your comments are too the representative and how seriously he takes everyone of them.
They remain as neutral as possible on every issue, unless they are overwhelmed with calls or letters on a specific topic and leaning.

Perhaps words such as liberal and conservative would have some meaning if we were to quit lumping assholes into either category, since they already have a category of their own.

Makes sense to me.

As I see it, modern coservatism, as it manifests itself in American Society today, isn't conservative at all.

Todays social conservatives decry the governments attempts to get say, obesity under control. But, when asked how they would go about solving the issue, many advocate the use of social pressure, (Read; ridicule and bullying.) to bring fat people in line.

This merely trades one form of tyranny for another.

As Charles said, a true conservative would just mind his own dang business.
