The Personal Story of an Obamacare loser

I hope the guy will be OK. It's a shame to screw with people's lives like this.

"But in January, United Healthcare sent me a letter announcing that they were pulling out of the individual California market. The company suggested I look to Covered California starting in October."
So a corporate decision is Obama's fault. Sounds like my wife's friend who said that her son's three person landscaping business failed because of Obamacare.
Regards,
D-Ray

It is not really his doctor that saved his life....it was the treatment and the fact they caught it early enough. Getting a different doctor may make him more uncomfortable but should not effect treatment or prognosis. Moreover, if he really thinks having the same doctor is so important he should pay more money for it then. I mean I am glad he is alive and well, but you are confusing his desire with having the same doctor with the actual outcome of his cancer being cured.
And he is extremely unusual in that he has beat stage 4 cancer against all the odds after seven years of treatment....why is he not pissed at the insurance company dumping him? Seems like they took the first chance to drop him...
and he lives in San Diego and sees an Oncologist at Stanford? are you serious? They do not have any here at UCSD?
this smells funny to me
he had a world class plan before Obamacare but cannot afford it now....wtf?
he obviously can afford to commute between San Diego and his doctor in Stanford

The greater good, Mike. If your party had done their damn job in congress through normal practices instead of voting 48 times to defund it and withholding additional funds to make it work right, we wouldn't be sitting here having to hear these very few cases where people are unhappy. Sorry but this is just more crocodile tears.

They could pass a law to fix this defect of the ACA but President Obama is black and the Tea Party hates that.

Here we go. Who could have seen this coming?
UNITED HEALTHCARE drops this guy and who gets blamed? Why the president, of course........
Guys, from here on out every insurance carrier, every employer will get a pass as THEY drop people and TELL them to go to Obamacare. Just as every shuttered factory is organized labors fault, even where no union representation was present.
Sorry, Mike, this country is nearly half full of dolts who will fall for this ruse because it's what the WANT to hear.
It is, however, bullshit.

Did I read this right? This guy lives in San Diego and goes to Stanford for medical treatment?
That's like an eight hour drive, isn't it?

Yes
I mean it does not seem he is poor in the least.....
someone with that much coin could probably afford a higher premium......
San Diego is not a backwater when it comes to medicine. I guess it is possible that no one else could see him but that is sort of hard to believe ....

I'm willing to believe he beat stage 4 cancer because he's got the greatest doctor ever, up at Stanford.
Most people aren't in that situation, and if they are, let's face it, they aren't going to get to see the greatest doctor ever up at Stanford.
If there's a way to make the health care system for EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY meet every exceptional situation perfectly, let's hear about it.
In the meantime, what? Throw the whole thing out?

Good idea. It was the wrong solution anyway, so throw it out and craft the right solution. One that doesn't involve disrupting the lives of individuals, their preference of how to cover their own health care needs, and their medical care.
