Good On Ya, Nebraska

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-...527-story.html

"In a climactic political showdown, Nebraska's lawmakers overrode a veto and banned the death penalty Wednesday.
The ban passed by the thinnest of margins, making Nebraska the first conservative-dominated legislature to outlaw the death penalty since North Dakota in 1973.
The landmark vote comes as the use of capital punishment, while still favored by a majority of Americans, has gone into general decline and received increased scrutiny across the U.S. Nebraska itself hadn’t carried out an execution since 1997." LATimes

I salute the men who put principle ahead of popularity with their 'base' supporters.

Governor says he's going to execute the people on Death Row anyway.

I read that too. I guess he'll have to take it up with Nebraska's Supreme court.

He should be prosecuted for murder if he does that.

Of course you know that the use of executions is an important tool of repression in totalitarian regimes, don't you?

Typical of the right to lust for death. And use black bogeymen in their propaganda.

I do know that the Death Penalty should remain on the books for the most heinous of crimes, including the murder of police, but with the mentality of Liberals, they think murdering cops is a good thing.

Just putting this out there for you, Boris.

Willie Horton was indeed released from prison during Dukakis' tenure as governor but he was released under a program put in place by Dukakis' predecessor, Edward King, a Republican. Dukakis ended the program.

Of course, the actual circumstances.... you know, the truth.... wouldn't have been particularly useful for Lee Atwater.
