I grok the concept of the A&F decision but don't grasp why it was necessary. Who cares what she wears unless you're dressing people only in your stuff...

Christians looking to screw with Muslims care. The same reason no Christian business owners really gave a hoot who walked through their door to buy a pizza until Gay bashing became fashionable, the political meme of the day.
They're hateful assholes doing the soft pedal, Zeke. That's all it is.

Which may well be the case.

My stepmother, knowing the A&F of old, bought me a pair of shorts there as a present. They were the sort of shorts that are intended to be worn so as to reveal your A&F boxer shorts. I was probably in my 49w or 59s at the time.
Needless to say, I returned them but, when I did so, I looked for something I could exchange them for. There wasn't a damn thing in the store II would have worn.

The once fabulous A&F, "The Greatest Sporting Goods Store In The World."
The new, improved A&F:
This is the cover of the A&F 2003 "Back to School" catalog.
The management at A&F was concerned that the millenial yuppies with 6-packs who shop there would be put off by a young Muslim woman wearing a scarf. To fuckin' bad.

Still wondering what is so shameful about a head of hair that it must be hidden. Funny the generation before mine called it a woman's crowning glory.

And some Muslims say the West is decadent. Where do they get such ideas?

I don't know, Merrylander..... But I remember as a child having to cover my head when entering the Catholic Church. Guess Muslims aren't the only ones that had a thing about women covering their heads.

It's somewhat tribal custom, tho Catholics and Jews have their traditions for either gender. The FLDS does the "crowning Glory" hairdo thong to excess, like a prarie beehive 'do.

If as the Church would have us believe He made us why do we try and hide his work?
