Here's the beginning of the
'RNC Message Celebrating Christmas,' from Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day:
Quote:
“Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. (emphasis added)

The thing goes on with ordinary Christmas sentiments, but that "new King" part causes a mental double-take. Who around here might, in the upcoming year be, like, a 'new King?
Trump as God-King? It's hard to imagine a sentiment more likely to cause eruptions around the east of the USA, as the founders spin in their graves at a speed to melt earth. Had Tom Paine has ever been told of such a thing in his life, something like a 3-day rant calling for a revolution against monarchy and the state-church would have resulted. The GOP super-patriots seem to have forgotten why the American Revolution was fought, if they ever knew.
It will be denied, of course. They just meant Jesus, no reference to Trump at all, they will say. Christianity, not Caesarism. Right.
Watch these people.
