There's a great argument that check points are bad under the 4th. But the SC says they're OK. There were stipulations but they erode with time.
If there is any doubt the courts should err on the side of the people, meaning legislature.

Not the same. These black boxes are transponders that report to government data systems. It's supposed to fit into some plan to base highway funding on actual usage, not just the gasoline tax, which is proving inadequate. So you get billing based on how far you go, and where.
What else happens left as an exercise....

Great. So I understand, they will be real time trackers vs the store and dump boxes they have now? What States are doing this?
And Bob, waddya mean?

"Stipulations that erode with time". Just gigging you over your 2nd amendment arguments ala camel's noses in the tent. There are apps around here to avoid drunk driving checkpoints.

Heck they used to have to publish them in the local paper, now iirc they just list them in some courthouse basement 'in public view'.
I have nothing to have an app with

They post them on the city website around here. Not really an issue with me or the wife, we don't drive buzzed.

None yet, but various states are moving forward with definite plans, testing, etc. Not Ohio yet, but it's moving forward on the coasts, with Oregon leading the way. Nevada has units in testing. Illinois is testing with trucks. And the "I-95 coalition" (the whole east coast) is "studying the idea."

Good Gravy that means it'll be everywhere soon enough. As if the NSA wasn't bad enough. We're idiots. If it was to pay by mile, isn't the car odometer good enough??
The ACLU and Tea Party in cahoots against, and the Greens and Libertarians in cahoots for? Love politics.
Thanks for the info Don!
