"Based on progress of our investigations, the meeting you suggest would not be appropriate at this time."

VIA EMAIL

Chairman Mike Turner
House Permanent Selection Committee on Intelligence United States Capitol
HVC-304
Washington, DC 20515 Dear Chairman Turner:

Timothy C. Parlatore, Esq.
Managing Partner timothy.parlatore@parlatorelawgroup.com
Direct:212-679-6312

We represent President Trump and are writing to provide information regarding the probe by the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) into the post-Presidency handling of classified documents. We understand that DOJ is making the documents marked classified available for your review, and this letter provides the Committee with information that we suspect DOJ has not disclosed to it.

It has become abundantly clear through this investigation that the institutional practice and procedures within the White House for the handling of classified materials drastically differ from the long-established standard operating procedures employed by various agencies of the intelligence community as well as the U.S. military. As demonstrated by the discovery of documents with classification markings1 in the homes of President Trump, President Biden, and Vice President Pence, deficient document handling and storage procedures are not limited to any individual, administration, or political party. A legislative solution by Congress is required to prevent the DOJ from continuing to conduct ham-handed criminal investigations of matters that are inherently not criminal.
So it seems to me that the letter to the House and one yesterday to AG Garland is not to elicit any response, but simply to once gain establish that Trump is being unfairly targeted and allows to claim "Witch Hunt" on every campaign stop. Only way to shut him up is to indict the SOB.

Turner represents my old stomping grounds. I don't think he will be up for these sort of manuevers. He's a Repub, but rather old school, a serious guy.

Indeed. He's soliciting interference from his allies in Congress.

Missing from any of that is an explanation of why tRumpollini refused to return ALL the documents he had, knowing he had no right to have them and after he returned some denied that he had others. At least they didn't repeat that "declassifying by thinking about them" excusatory nonsense.

Trump workers moved Mar-a-Lago boxes a day before Justice Dept. came for documents
New details, including alleged ‘dress rehearsal’ for moving sensitive papers, show a focus on Donald Trump’s instructions and intent

Obstruction. Lock him up!

“The judge made clear she believed the government had met the threshold, for both obstructing the grand jury proceeding and ‘unauthorized retention of national defense information.’”

“Other evidence demonstrates that the former president willfully sought to retain classified documents when he was not authorized to do so, and knew it.”

Lots of reporting that Trump is likely to be indicted in the weeks after Memorial Day. Whell will need to sharpen his pencil as he is Trump's defense counsel on this board.
