None of the 'coon hunters I know kill the 'coons. The hunting is just an excuse to get the dogs out and spend some time tramping around in the woods at night. They prefer that over being hypnotized by the one-eyed monster or arguing with faceless names about politics on the web.

The only time we kill them is when they become a pest. A neighbor last year had a family get into his basement. They aren't so cute when inside ripping up carpet and paneling. He had tried trapping them but ended up killing one and hanging it on the deck for a week. Been clear since!

They tried to get into my house to but I have chicken wire trap the caught one trying to enter. It was there trapped until it stunk up real good. That is when I noticed and removed it. Keep telling the wife not to leave cat food out for the feral cats.
