Army conscription becomes a toxic issue for Ukrainian leaders.

Zaluzhny, the Ukrainian "Mannerheim" carefully puts the essence of the conflict to all and sundry. He had once used the forbidden "stalemate" which pissed off many.

Zaluzhny then plays his part with some skill.

Why do you support Putin and his gang of war criminals, Dondi?

On the contrary, my input in this thread has been very consistent...empathy for the Ukrainians caught in a proxy war between the West and Russia.

Lloyd Austin, General Milley, and General Cavoli were all slapped down when they tried to project any argument relating to the suffering of the Ukrainians or the preponderance of the Russians.

Now I am trying to distill that General Zaluzhny is trying to help his people come to the realization of their situation. He is saying...the military needs this massive number of troops are you (including the elite) prepared to go to the front?
If this is digested, then the word "stalemate" can be used, and hopefully, talks with the Russians will ensue.

It is a Mannerheim moment for Zaluzhny.
The brilliant Mannerheim after stinging the Soviets made concessions when he realized the Soviets were over the hump and he was then heavily overmatched.

A proxy war started by a ruthless, murderous war criminal aiming to erase Ukraine's very existence. I suppose the question is whose side are you on in this "proxy war?" It seems to me from your comments over the past several years that you're squarely in Putin's corner, tovarich.

Here I am on the side of humanity. One Senator (I do not remember his name) described the actions of those pushing for the continuation of the conflict as deprave.

In the meantime:
Ukraine facing increasingly unfavorable odds.

That's not quite the endorsement for your POV that you think it is - "Some fool on the Hill (too inconsequential to remember) spouted some nonsense that I agree with."

Proxy war?
You wanting a full out one?

The conflict was an act of aggression, for any and all of these reasons expand retake reconquer reestablish territory Putin deemed his. When Ukraine is only defending itself after agreeing to give up weapons left over from the USSR with the assurances of protection for being invaded by Russia BTW.

The USA needs to stand by it's promises and commitments or not make them any more.

I think anybody pushing for some sort of treaty where Russia gets to keep the land they have stolen would feel differently if that land was where they lived.

I say give Ukraine all that they need to push the bastards back to where they came from, then get Ukraine into NATO ASAP.

I also see that Nazis in the US oppose backing Ukraine: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ight-extremist

So pick a side.
