Isn't that convenient!!!

The chief of Russian mercenary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is believed to have been killed in a plane crash, Russian state media reported Wednesday.

And so unexpected! I congratulate the FSB, there are clearly centers of competence still in the organization. Will shed no tears for the warlord.

Bet it didn't cost them over $10M, like it did for Litvinenko.......

"British detectives believe the radioactive substance used to kill former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko cost in excess of $US10 million ($A12.8 million), The Times reported in an early edition of its Monday paper."

I read that it involved a dispute over who in Russia would get to run their Africa rackets, Wagner or the GRU. The GRU seems to have won the argument (with Putin's backing).

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called Prigozhin's apparent death a "demonstrative elimination" and a signal from Putin to Russian elites against disloyalty ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.

The National Resistance Center of Ukraine reported that convoys of Wagner personnel and vehicles were seen leaving their bases in Belarus and heading towards the Russian border, with the Belarusian Special Operations Forces attempting to intercept them.

The last report suggests a vengeance mission. Wonder if it's real?
