I doubt the FFs anticipated the unintended consequences of the trust in endowing a Constitutional entitlement on all and sundry without a test of fitness for the responsibilities, combined with unrestricted wide availability.

I'm afraid the ship already sailed on any easy solution to the gun violence. To many out in circulation now, causing the overwhelming sense of helplessness.
What will happen is a backlash at some point in the future once an event is so horrendous. Causing draconian measures to be enacted.
