Hasidics - mass protest against army draft.

The Ultra-Orthodox held recently a mass rally against being drafted into the
Israeli military.

Israeli having a government which is not beholding to them is trying to coax
the Hasidics into being a productive part of the country.

With their high fertility rate the Ultras are becoming increasingly a burden. Religious students do not work!

No different here. This place is in the next county over and is the poorest community in the nation on paper where the welfare flows like honey. They somehow have a federally funded religious school district. Votes count and when you have a large enough bloc you get your way. Neighboring town politicians have referred to them as a parasidic community.

Yeah! I know about the block vote.
It is easy to shake down the system with the offer of block votes especially in
low turn out elections.

I can guarantee you this amount of vote...this is what you have to do for me.

A local District Attorney in Brooklyn, Charles Hynes was so afraid of the Rabbis with their block votes that he gave a blind eye to sexual cases against them.
Younger more progressive Jews finally organized and threw him out.

Some of the coolest people I've ever met were (are) Jews. However, every race, religion, nationality has it's סקומבאַגס

Right on. And it always seems like the extremes are the troublemakers.

The Haredim were easily the most obnoxious @ssholes I encountered in my recent 17 day trip to Israel. Interestingly, all of my sons Israeli friends felt the same way about them.
