Make sure you listen to some James Brown. ..
I saw another pair on there for forty bucks, but they didn't have the original woofers (it was $140 BIN). I think yours will sound better.

I saw a pair of Realistic Nova 10s at the DAV yesterday. I have a set of Nova 6s in the garage and love them.
The temptation is KILLING me.

I just ordered some Russian 4uf paper in oils...I am going to see if they can bleed out the harshness on my Altec Lansing Santanas....they are sort of growing on me...they make great bedstands I have a humidifier on the one next to my bed...
If a crossover takes two 8uf caps...and you cut the uf in half by using say two 4 uf caps what will happen?

So long as they are connected to each other in paralllel you will get 8 uf for each pairing. Which means you need four. Otherwise, you will screw up your cutoff point. The lower the value, the higher the cutoff. 1 uf is about 10,000hz.
Spring for the 8 uf caps, Robbin.

That'll work then. Enjoy. I've heard good things about those Russian caps.

I've been planning on mentioning them mind reader
The short answer is yes but, the long answer is it's a little unfair to review them yet.
I don't have stands yet so I've been playing them on the floor tilted a little upwards and the house is 1/2 empty so it's a little shouty. That said, going from AR9s to those little things, I'm really impressed. They've got much bigger bass than you'd think and the highs are well clear. They can even take more power than I thought, although they don't go loud enough to drown out my singing
Let me get into the new place and them up on proper stands, I'll add more. I'm looking forward to running them on tubes too.
Pete

There was this Mcintosh MC-752 on the bay for an opening bid for $400 in really good shape...original box etc and he just re-listed it as a buy it now for $1000!!!
Is there a big difference in the sound between the 752,4 amps and the autoformer ones? Maybe Carl has heard both....
I really could not afford it so maybe it is better the amp is now higher lol

I found a pair of Snell Type E III
$19.99
gotta do the refoam bit but I think I can handle an 8 inch woofer
everyone says they are good
I was with my wife and actually bought these, put em in the CRV in back, and drove home without her noticing! They are still in the car.
Last week Infinity QB-1s, this week Snell...next week Yorx!
