Florida Republican congressman brandishes guns during rant against gun safety legislation at House hearing

Repubes are just flat out nuts. Every last one of them.

IOW, MAGAMorons.
Excellent article; very interesting...a moral attachment to guns.

That's a sort of archaic sense of the word 'moral,' but accurate as so used.

And imagine James Madison considering his Black slaves to be human beings.

When he said "free states" he was not talking about his African slaves. Slave labor was used to build the White House. James Madison had 3 Black slaves in the White House after he became President.

So much for "All Men were created equal". Madison didn't actually pen that quote. I think it was Thomas Jefferson.

I have to disagree. That's a 21st century sense of the word.

The Talmud, The Qu'ran, nor the Christian Bible make reference to firearms.

Thy staff and Thy rod comfort me. I guess firearms could be "rods".

Certainly as applied to firearms, yes, 21st century. As applied to, in general, 'the beliefs and values that motivate men,' that's what I felt was archaic. Only historians and philosophy-heads use the word that way now. Most people just think of morals as rules.

Actually, the 2nd Amendment is fairly clear regarding "arms".

You have to be a member of a State regulated militia in order to "keep and bare arms".

That would be grounds to confiscate all firearms, unless we formed said militia for each state.

I'm not sure how the perpetrator was shot and killed.

We are told by historians who are supposed to know these things that, although many of the important ideas in the Declaration were contributed by others, the final Declaration was written by Jefferson. And if Jefferson had been honest, in keeping with the tenor of the times, and the history of the colonies at that point, he would have written...

All white men of property are created equal.

If this country was built on anything it was built on genocide and slavery. Stolen land, and generations of stolen black lives to make that land agriculturally successful. Without cotton production the early United States would not have been economically viable, supporting the growth of northern textile mills and valuable trade to the mills in England.
