On the hands of Wojtyla and Ratzinger.

Quote:
The Skimm 8/15/18 - Yesterday, a grand jury released a report that's been in the works for two years. It spoke to dozens of witnesses and went through half a million pages of docs. The jury found that more than 300 priests in Pennsylvania sexually abused children for decades. And that the number of victims is over 1,000 - but could be much higher. The state's AG called it the biggest US report on child sex abuse in the Catholic Church. Ever.
AP - Grand Jury Report, Over 1000 Cases of Priest Abuse.

And the report of the Grand Jury, it's over 1300 pages, but here it is for anybody interested. What I've looked at so far is disgutingly amazing. I thought the Diocese of LA was bad.

Not only were crimes committed also covered up.
Will there finally be any real justice?
Not be if guessing.

The only penalty extracted that hurts may well be in $$$!
Let us hope it is painful.

My first thought;
A good time to review Spotlight.
Followed by the obvious notion that the Church has surrendered its moral authority and a substantial part of its substance to its history of shielding an internal cabal of predators. Predators that exploit a position of trust and imposed eternally necessary celestial ecclesiastic authority.
Apparently worldwide, even the unquestioningly devoted Irish have been exploited.
Is the substantial emotional investment in the fantastic and unprovable really worth the betrayal and lifelong misery?

It seems predators have made the clergy their home.

A good reason to never trust any partnership twixt church and state, corruption is inevitable.

Interesting you mention Spotlight. A close friend is an ex-priest, and I remember we had dinner with him and his wife the day after they saw Spotlight. He was visibly distressed talking about it. I had never heard anybody talk about Wojtyla with the venom that Bill presented with that night.
