Hurricane Matthew

Just watched an official say he hoped they had a good supply of bodybags for the knuckleheads who think this is an occasion for hurricane parties instead of getting their asses out of Dodge.

Just talked to someone in Lakeland, they're hunkering down for it inland. Thunderstorms.

Over here on the left coast so far it is drama free. But I think the east coast will get hammered later. :-(

It's looking like Ft. Pierce and on up the coast past Daytona are going to get hammered by 7-11ft. storm surge and 100+ mph winds.

The last hurricane I saw was Agnes up in the Wash. DC area. in 1972. I prefer earthquakes.

Lots of flooding with that one. I remember that Rock Creek almost came up to the roadway at the P Street bridge and there were cars flowing down the swollen Rock Creek.

It got hammered again with just heavy rains, no hurricane needed. Main Street was just re-opened yesterday.

I was a wee lad in 72 but I remember all the damage caused by Agnes. We lived right by Blair highschool and Sligo park flooded badly every footbridge was mangled.

Small world, man. Former denizen of the Peoples Republic of Takoma Park here.

I remember Sligo Creek Parkway being closed for months afterwards.
