It is true however that minorities - the 'right' ones - get preferencial treatment in many ways.

LOL, that would not even pay the rent on a studio apartment on a section 8 program here.

Would not even rent you a garage around here.

Section 8 would be on top of welfare and food stamps. So, regardless of skin color, free house, free food, free health care including optical and full dental, and some pocket money. Teach your kids how to act stupid, add SSI on top.

You might, MIGHT, be able to find a 1 bedroom apartment in the wrong neighborhood in Cleveland for $300. Maybe. It'd be craptacular and dangerous.

Rob2.0, ever just try for food stamps?

I thought Section 8 was a separate program.

Seems like getting the sawbone's to put your kid on drugs kicks in SSI as well.

It is. Often one goes with the other though.

The last time I had the dubious honor of seeing Section 8 housing up close-----It was HORRID. I couldn't understand why in the hell anyone would want to live there, even if it is cheap, or even free. But, that was a long time ago. Maybe things have changed...........

It depends. In Cleveland, where lots are practically free and there is big tax abatement, they build new houses, modern floor plan 1 car attached Colonials just to rent section 8.

All section 8 houses/units are 'supposed' to be inspected by the Feds to meet standards of cleanliness and condition. The house itself anyway. Of course bribing inspectors never happens, the inspectors being the angels they are. Landlords do like it, you get paid be the feds direct, and ALL damages are guarenteed, not just a deposits worth.

And sometimes, once in a while, a deserving poor person gets one.
