Murderous GOP Rhetoric Kills Mother Of Nine

'California store owner, mother of nine, shot and killed over a Pride flag displayed in her shop'

"A business owner was fatally shot on Friday after someone allegedly took issue with a Pride flag she had displayed at her clothing store in Lake Arrowhead, California.

Deputies responded to the Mag Pi clothing store at 5:00 p.m., where owner Laura Ann Carleton was pronounced dead at the scene, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said in a press release. The suspect, who was not identified, fled the scene on foot.

“Through further investigation, detectives learned the suspect made several disparaging remarks about a rainbow flag that stood outside the store before shooting Carleton,” the press release said.

The suspect was armed when confronted by deputies and was killed in "a lethal force encounter," the sheriff’s department said. An investigation is ongoing.

The Mag Pi store website described Carleton as a mother of nine and has been "married to the same man for 28 years." Carleton, who went by Lauri, studied at the Art Center School of Design and had a long career in fashion, including 15 years as an executive at Kenneth Cole, the site said.

Mountain Provisions Cooperative, a local grocery store, said in a Facebook post Saturday that Carleton had been pivotal in helping organize a free store after a blizzard hit the area earlier this year.

"Lauri was a pillar in our community, an immovable force in her values for equality, love, and justice," the post said. "If you knew Lauri you know she loved hard, laughed often, and nurtured and protected those she cared about." NBC

As of yesterday, the LA papers say the subhuman scum gunner remains identified. Why do I find this hard to believe.

No they didn't. An opportunity to blame your political opponents, without evidence, was something that didn't escape you.

In fact, very little about the shooter is known at this time, except that his dad was a cop, he hated cops, seems to have had a troubled family life including his parent's divorce, and he identified as a Christian.

I think you need to be much more careful here, Bob. Pause and count to 10 before making a decision to spread your anti-conservative hate speech, concocting blame for a tragedy where no evidence exists to support your claims. It's pretty clear that some folks on the left aren't all that comfortable with the "pro-gay" movement too.

It's hardly an exaggeration to assert that the Far Right is responsible for the vast majority of political violence in this country (and murdering an overtly pro-gay person is indeed political violence).

Here's a thoughtful piece from an Evangelical conservative bemoaning the dark, violent turn the Christian Right has taken in recent years.

A post solely to knock b for his "anti-conservative hate speech" and for "concocting blame for a tragedy where no evidence exists to support his claims". It took him five days to do it, likely because Reich-wing media failed at giving him talking points and the data on Google, y'know, they're aligned with fake news and all.
The "pro-gay" movement? That the kind of Reich-wing "conservative" talk that gets people this guy wound up in the first place.

The shooter's alt-right anti-LGBTQ ideology is all over his social media.

This from the fool who starts a thread on the Biden "crime" family with zero evidence to back it up, yet believes his Dear Leader isn't a rapist, career criminal, or thoroughly disgusting human being. Such a tool.

Not true, all one has is to Google his name and this information came out within a day or two.

Carleton was killed outside her clothing store, Mag.Pi, in Cedar Glen, an area near California’s Lake Arrowhead, on Friday. The suspect left the scene on foot, and was later killed by police after he opened fire, according to comments in a press conference reported by The Guardian. During a press conference Monday, police identified the suspected killer as 27-year-old Travis Ikeguchi. The incident is being investigated as a hate crime, as officials told NBC News.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus told reporters that Ikeguchi tore down the Pride flag outside Mag.Pi and “yelled many homophobic slurs” before the shooting, per The Guardian. Ikeguchi also had an extensive history of making anti-LGBTQ+ comments on Twitter; in fact, his pinned post, which remains up at the time of writing, is a picture of a burning rainbow flag captioned, “What to do with the LGBTQP [sic] flag?”

On the right-wing social media platform Gab, Ikeguchi was even bolder. One of his pinned posts, according to Vice, read, “We need to STOP COMPROMISING on this LGBT dictatorship and not let them take over our lives. Stop accepting this abomination that the government is forcing us to submit to these mentally disordered tyrants.” The suspect also allegedly shared a link to a video called “When Should You Shoot a Cop,” with a caption reading, “There will come a time that we have to do this.” (Ikeguchi’s Gab profile was removed on Monday.)

Ikeguchi’s bigotry was not limited to the LGBTQ+ community, however. Many of his posts aligned with Christian nationalist views. On June 28, Ikeguchi posted that abortion and same-sex marriage “are both immoral and are design [sic] to destroy humanity one by one.” “So if someone is pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQP, they are at war against the foundation of family values,” Ikeguchi wrote. Ikeguchi also posted about a variety of other standard right-wing conspiratorial content, including anti-vaccine content and anti-Semitic memes.
Sounds like a dyed in the Red MAGAt.

Sorry, but anti-semitism is alive and well on the left, and there's a Dem anti-vax candidate running for Prez.
