Let me italicize some words: could, might, less. And balanced against those qualified points must be a need for haste if any added immunity will be added in time to meet a quickly-developing Omicron surge. So the decision makers must weigh the bad effects of 'immune system fatigue' that might happen, vs the bad effects of an Omicron surge that will happen. And there is certainly a strong desire to save more lives.That 'less immunity' spoken of was less immunity than against other variants. There is still more immunity than without the booster--except for the uncertain, unquantified danger of immune fatigue. My first two eyes see journalism that paints a realistic picture of decision making under uncertainly.
