I understand the practice of trolling to be posting for the primary purpose of disrupting conversations occurring on the website. This is done by aggressively adopting positions that are known to cause a strong response. The troll doesn't necessarily agree with the position he has taken, but posts it to create controversy.

That is why I have suggested that some of Zeke's posts amount to trolling, because no reasonable person would take such an extreme position, such as, for example, suggesting that it is appropriate police conduct to conduct a warrantless vaginal probe based only on smelling pot in conjunction with a traffic stop. Because I believe that Zeke possess the intelligence to understand the extreme nature of this conduct (and to understand the limits of exigent circumstances), his posts supporting this conduct and denigrating the woman were intended only to provoke disgust - and were therefore trolling.

Update: a lawsuit was filed on behalf of Charnesia Corley in Federal Court in February 2016. Corley is the woman discussed in this thread, who was stripped and vaginally-probed by officers in a gas station driveway.

No news of the three officers involved being on trial for forcible rape, alas.

The really bad news: cops use their power and opportunity to sexually abuse people a lot. All the time. There's a report from the AP that says they dug into this and found 550 cops that lost their licenses/badges because they were busted for sexual assault on the job.

Of those that did release records, the AP determined that some 550 officers were decertified for sexual assault, including rape and sodomy, sexual shakedowns in which citizens were extorted into performing favors to avoid arrest, or gratuitous pat-downs. Some 440 officers lost their badges for other sex offenses, such as possessing child pornography, or for sexual misconduct that included being a peeping Tom, sexting juveniles or having on-duty intercourse.

This was 550 cases found in records from 2009-2014. Doesn't seem like so many? But how many cop perpetrators wind up getting busted to the level of losing their license? Given the 'blue-wall-of-silence' thing, the strong financial incentive for jurisdictions to cover up, etc, etc. One in 10? One in 100? There's no estimate about cops in particular, but advocates estimate only 9 out of 100 rapists are prosecuted in general. So for cops, and including lesser sexual assaults as well as bodily penetration (rape), I'd say 1 in 100 is likely a fair guess. So if we have 550 busted cops, we very likely have 50,000 or more incidents.
