Huge news today! Donald Trump and Mike Pence will both be in Arizona on Friday. They will, however, be lending their rhetorical talents to opposing candidates.

Oh Arizona, what a show you’re about to see! Batman and Robin duking it out. The Lone Ranger and Tonto drawing down. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers sticking out a leg of stumbling. John Ford insulting John Wayne. Oh wait, that one actually happened. A lot.

Anyway. Can the conservative cosmos handle such energy?! The Id and his Lickspittle locked in loquacious conflict. The Very Stable Genius vs. the Steely Stare of Studliness. The Playboy Mansion vs. the Southern Baptist Convention. Oh wait ...

Anyway. Each armed with the entire armor of their God. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with lies, and having on the breastplate of corruption; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of division and violence; and above all, taking the shield of unblinking dogma, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of fact and reason hurled by the wicked liberals; and take the helmet of your personal salvation, it's all good if you're good, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of the Texas Republican platform. Ah well, it will be a show for the ages! To egregiously paraphrase President Kennedy, I think Arizona will see the most extraordinary collection of falsehoods, of human ignorance, that has ever gathered together in one place, with the possible exception of when Donald Trump dined alone …

I reckon, depending upon which Republican one might talk to, both Trump and Pence are RINO's. That of course requires that one can stomach talking to any Republican. We've all seen Pence referred to as such, and of course on 1/6 way worse, coming from the MAGA hyenas. And the "never Trump" faction is always reminding their former political/ideological conservative brethren of how they are being worked by Trump...a lifelong self-proclaimed pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, NYC Democrat. Of course, anybody paying any attention knows he's just a sociopathic grifter, sexist, and racist pig.

Late edit...but we also know that 46% of Americans are stupid enough and/or self-absorbed enough to want that (my pronouns for Trump are "it" and "that") in the White House.

Bill Svelmo, a history professor with fierce support of the student body, is something of a liberal hero in these parts. Obviously he can produce some pretty ferocious sarcasm, but he always seems to do it without being snarky. Not that I'm particularly troubled by snarky.
