No, it's their way of weakening democracy and instituting corporatocracy.

I understand the politics of both sides on this argument. That said, having some sort of ID seems reasonable to me. While one may speak of disenfranchisement, the remedy for the aggrieved party is pretty easy (i.e., get an ID).

I agree but as long as there are monetary barriers to obtaining a photo id, this will result in disenfranchising some voters. Which should never happen. i didn't want to quote the whole article but they had three cases where the barriers were steep, $200+ to clear up their id status.

Any other advance preparations that we should require before people are allowed to vote?

Don't you have to live for 18 years if you're a natural born citizen before you're allowed to vote? I had to. And I still had to do the paperwork.
Not to disfranchise anyone, but if you can't get your paperwork in order to vote, you shouldn't be allowed to.

Pass it a year before the election and make the states/Federal gov't. pay any costs for the indigent needing/wanting an ID to vote.
Question - does anyone here actually know anybody who doesn't have a government-issued ID?

In the bolded; Telling them they must pay for it through their taxes would be enough to kill any republican support for the idea.

My Mother N Law is in a home and she just gave up trying to vote. She use to enjoy voting but when told she would have to do "some paper work" she just said forget it. I guess at 87 she can do what she wants.
They know who she is BTW, on SS and Medicaid Jezzz that ought to tell them who she is......

"Oh, now, everybody does it."
We've been listening to that since Nixon got busted. There is truth to it, but, when you say things like this;
"Like maybe the people that gave us; Even dead Democrats vote, and the good ones vote twice, or Vote early and vote often."
You'd better check the skeletons in your own closet.
Honesty and Christian values my arse. What a joke.
