Arrested for threatening to kill Ted Cruz and others

Here is a interesting and disturbing take on the GOP and its descent into the use of political violence to achieve its aims.

Interesting that, in your view, this apparently justifies the threat to kill him.

Fascism is a well-defined ideology which (rightly) suffers from tons of historical baggage. Accordingly, the American far-right readily and willfully accepts, promotes, and praises the tenets of fascism, but adamantly opposes the use of the word to describe their chosen ideology and their leaders who ascribe to it.

It seems to me that supporters of the Trump brand of fascism and its attendant political violence have no standing to criticize the exceedingly less frequent instances from the left. Moreover, conservative politicians openly cozy up to those on their side who support political violence (Proud Boys, 3 Percenters, sovereign citizens), whereas Democratic politicians do not. Hell, the biggest incidence of political violence in over 150 years has been called tourism and peaceful protest by the GOP.

Thanks for the link Finn. This situation is exacerbated by the fact a lot of people in Law Enforcement and even the Secret Service are Trumpers. The GOP candidate for governor of Nevada currently Sheriff of Clark County (Las Vegas) is a certified MAGAt.

PS: We are now legal residents of Nevada though I still have my business in CA.

As usual, you are rabble rousing.

But since a deep freeze drove Cruz to seek asylum in Cancun, wonder what a death threat could do. Move back to Canada perhaps.

One of many insights from Finbow's WP link:

Russia is propagating an alternative model. It’s a White, Christian, traditional hierarchy, very masculine, led by a strongman — and they’re spreading that model globally, through satellites like Hungary, and through online white-supremacist movements that they back.

Show me the "right-wing" equivalent of the cancel culture. It doesn't exist. The left has weaponized rhetoric such that certain opinions are just not welcome, and people who utter those opinions are demonized and in many cases, their livelihoods are impacted.

Similarly, show me the "right-wing" equivalent of folks parading outside the homes of SCOTUS judges attempting to intimidate or influence their decisions. Protest is great, go protest outside the Supreme Court building. And, of course, it seems to be just fine with Merrick Garland and the DOJ, because...

Show me the right-wing equivalent of the attorneys general of several blue states publicly stating that they will not enforce the law, and covering themselves by twisting the definition of "prosecutorial discretion" to cover their actions.

In Garland's case, he stated that authorities would "take all appropriate actions to further enhance the security of justices and the court." I guess Garland thinks that "appropriate action" is no action, particularly if that means brooming the protestors out of the neighborhood. "Prosecutorial discretion", I guess.

Speaking of SCOTUS show me the right-wing equivalent of a US Senator standing on the steps of the Supreme Court and threatening the Justices, as Schummer did. Or a President calling the Supreme Court "extreme and dangerous" in an international press conference.
