Why are the Health care companies stocks soring?

Can one of you who are so worried that Obama is going to socialize health care tell why the stock of health care companies is soring?

CNBC said it's because of the Baucus plan- some are looking at it as a gift to the insurance companies.

http://trueslant.com/rickungar/2009/...e-baucus-plan/

That took forever to open, so here's a snippit.

"There is, however, one segment of the population that is quite pleased with bill. They would be the shareholders of the nation’s largest health insurance companies who watched with glee as health insurance company stock prices skyrocketed today. And I do mean skyrocketed.

"Why so happy, insurance companies? After all, Senator Baucus would obligate you to take all comers from now on with no phony baloney rejections because an applicant once had acne.

"Maybe it’s because the Baucus bill, while mandating insurance coverage for nearly everyone, permits the healh insurance companies to charge older customers up to five times more than younger customers."

Is that Baucus' version of a death panel? Young parents with kids in day school use far more care than seniors do.

Well, could be I guess. I think he's trying to find something that will fly with eveyone. It doesn't say what "older" means. I know there is a lot of push back from very young people in their 20s saying "I'm really healthy at this point. Why do you want to force me to get insurance?" Of course, we want them to get insurance because it's all pay and little spend. That's part of how it all gets paid for. I think the line in the article may have been misleading. "More" than younger people, but not "more" than they're paying now?

Yeah, well I will match myself and the state of my health against any young squirt out there. One flu shot a year, oh and I did get a checkup because I have not had one in five years, but they don't cover that in any case.

Having met you, I must chime in that this is the honest truth. When you told me your age, I was shocked seeing how good you get around, and the fact that you probly have ten times more use-able brain cells left than I was even born with.

No joke fellers, he is in pretty darn good shape for a man of his age.

One can only hope that old age treats them half as kind.
