Unfortunately, not long at all. I was referring to the "revenge" aspect of it.
But, you're right, (I never thought I would say that.), if we stayed a hundred years, the day we left.....................

Words taken from the bottom of article mentioned,

"Tell The Truth

When it comes to deciding what matters are worth plunging our nation into war and which are not, our senior leaders owe it to the nation and to the uniformed members to be candid — graphically, if necessary — in telling them what’s at stake and how expensive potential success is likely to be. U.S. citizens and their elected representatives can decide if the risk to blood and treasure is worth it.

Likewise when having to decide whether to continue a war, alter its aims or to close off a campaign that cannot be won at an acceptable price, our senior leaders have an obligation to tell Congress and American people the unvarnished truth and let the people decide what course of action to choose. That is the very essence of civilian control of the military. The American people deserve better than what they’ve gotten from their senior uniformed leaders over the last number of years. Simply telling the truth would be a good start."

I'm afraid that there will be no difference in Afghanistan if we left tomorrow or ten years from today. The same forces to control the country will still be there waiting to move. They have to sort it out for themselves.

We might be upset with the results, just like it looks to be happening in Iraq.

Do you mean to suggest, "My country, right or wrong!", "We don't quit! We finish what we start!", and "Failure is not an option!", are just simpleminded slogans that don't appeal to you more than having the sense to know when to cut your losses and go home?

Man, where is your head?

Not even close!

Maybe I need more coffee but was trying to point out what others want me to think!

That is why I also quoted from the article about truth telling in time of war.

I was being facetious, Bro.

I still think if Russia couldn't do anything after sharing a border for centuries it is not likely we will either.
Enough of these "wars" and "nation building". Lets take care of our house and if it is threatened, blow them off the face of the earth.

That's very anti-liberal of you guys. What about civilian casualties?

It's war. Shit happens.

Seriously, as always, you try to minimize civilian casualties. I'm guessing civilian casualties are MUCH lower than in the stupid nation building exercises we have taken on.
