Murdoch vs. Soros
Rupert Murdoch has been referrred to as the man behind the Right Wing media, and a global push of the Right.
And Soros has, on many occasions, been alluded to as being the "Man behind the curtain" for the Left.
So, what do you all say to this;
Could it be that some of the current political strife taking place in the Western Democracies be, to some degree, a game being played out between these two men?

I don't really see how. They're not really competitors. Murdoch has his global media empire and Soros has his financial interests. They don't really have any source for conflict beyond the purely political.

True. Two different modus operundi, but still a game of manipulation nonetheless.
Not necessarily competing to beat each other within a common industry, but competing to see who can influence politics to the greatest degree, each in his own way. And finding ways to make money off of it all the while. I.e.--If you can influence public policy, through populism (The media.) or financial pressures (The market.) then lay your money against the potential outcomes, one could become incredibly wealthy, no?
Think about it, John.

I actually think Soros separates his money-making efforts from his political activism while to Murdoch they're one and the same. I can't think od a left counterpart to Murdoch but if you want a right counterpart to Soros there's Richard Melon Scaife. Or maybe the Coors family.

I believe you nailed it.
"Big Money" individuals and corporate entities get behind whatever political affiliation or ideology will serve them best financially. Wind power is a great example and the tax breaks and subsidies for participation are astounding. If these guys are investing in a particular ideology, you can bet that the bottom line is financial and control over an inherent belief in right and wrong.

I'm starting to appreciate this taxing the rich stuff.
What's say we strip both of 'em naked and divvy up the loot?
Nah, taxing the rich is for the LITTLE rich guys, like us.

Obama wants to go after the top 2%. He gave a tax cut to the "Little" rich guys who make $250,000 adjusted gross or less.

I understand that he and the Democrats have that in their sights. But it looks like he's also raised taxes on the poor.
To tell the truth, I don't pay that much attention, that's why I have an accountant.
The income tax is a moot point anyway. It's what they like to talk about while they're raising taxes on everything else.
A shell game.
