The Pope on Conservative Economic Principles
Pope Francis on Tuesday sharply criticized growing economic inequality and unfettered markets in a lengthy paper ...
Using sharply worded phrases, Francis decried an “idolatry of money” and warned it would lead to “a new tyranny.” And he invoked language with particular resonance in the United States, attacking an economic theory that discourages taxation and regulation and which most affiliate with conservatives.
“Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world,” Francis wrote in the papal statement. “This opinion, which has never been confirmed by the facts, expresses a crude and naive trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system.”
“Meanwhile,” he added, “the excluded are still waiting.”

When you work harder and demand less for your labors, you will be rewarded with more work.................
Until, of course, they find (or create) people who are willing (or more likely forced, politically, economically or at gunpoint), to work even harder for even less.
Thence the race to the bottom. Which, of course, was the whole idea behind "trickle down" to begin with.
Note; There are STILL workers who staunchly believe in this mechanism of repression. But, this won't last forever. They'll figure it out someday.

American exceptionalism at it's finest, huh?
I don't believe I've left the county for 17 days, and I'm pretty tired of it too.

I love seeing that there are so many places outside America really aren't so bad. In fact, some appear to be great places to live....to the open minded. Then, you come back here and encounter our vast supply of freaked out xenophobes who shyte themselves over any idea perceived as "foreign"...................
...............and you just want to choke the friggin' idiots.

Dave when I worked in the area of international standards i got to travel to a lot of countries, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Denmaark, France,, Germany, Israel, Australia and England and sure got my eyes opened. All of this was both while living in Canada and here. The only good thing about the here version was that I got to take Florence with me. We also held meetings all over the U.S. so I have seen a goodly chunk of this country and Canada coast-to-coast. Those Social Democracies can teach us a thing or two if we would only listen,
