Mullen - Pakistan behind raid on US Embassy in Kabul
Pakistan-based insurgents planned and conducted some of the major attacks in Afghanistan recently, including the one on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul last week, with the support of Pakistan’s intelligence service, senior U.S. defense officials told Congress on Thursday.
“The Haqqani network ... acts as a veritable arm of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency,” Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said. “With ISI support, Haqqani operatives plan and conducted” a truck bomb attack that wounded more than 70 U.S. and NATO troops on Sept. 11, “as well as the assault on our embassy” two days later.
“We also have credible intelligence that they were behind the June 28th attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul and a host of smaller but effective operations,” he added.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...uvnK_blog.html
Isn't that just dandy? And we give these two-faced clowns $2 Billion/year for their assistance in the GWOT?

When will we learn our lesson? I'm surprised that those statements by Mullen were made and printed BTW.

Hard to stay friendly when you invade their country.

We didn't invade Pakistan. Occasional drone launchings in the NW territories to be sure as well as killing OBL (in the shadow of their military academy). But Mullen's point was that the OSI (Pakistan's Security Agency) were behind the attack of the embassy in Kabul. We're paying Pakistan $2 billion/year for their support in the "War on Terror" and they launch a cross-border attack on us in Afghanistan???

The biggest problem with Pakistan next to the nuclear is we are not dealing with a strong government. Looks to me the left hand and the right hand don't communicate to each other very well.

We went to bed with the Pakistanis when we foolishly trained and armed the mujahideen against the Soviets. The CIA should know that Pakistan is essentially sympathetic to radical Islam and is therefore no friend of ours. $2B WTF!

I'm not as surprised as I am curious as why this was done publicly.

If this is true, Pakistan wouldn't like my military response, but then I'm an Otto von Bismarck fan.
Quote:
“Prussia must concentrate and maintain its power for the favorable moment which has already slipped by several times. Prussia’s boundaries according to the Vienna treaties are not favorable to a healthy state life. The great questions of the time will not be resolved by speeches and majority decisions—that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849—but by iron and blood.”
