9/11

Just like the assassination of President Kennedy I doubt there are many people who won't remember where they were and what they were doing ten years ago.

I don't think there's any point in eulogizing or public tub thumping. It's all been said before but there's something that I'm curious about. On UK television and radio and in all the newspapers there's been at least a weeks run up to 9/11. Program after program of theories, analysis, 'informed opinion' from uninformed people. Every show having its own tame expert and that's the point. The papers here seem more concerned about increasing their sales than anything else. TV and radio want to grab more viewers.

Could it be that the media are more concerned with ratings; turning it into some kind of sick show than anything else or am I being too cynical?

In spite of the posts on this site merrylander...we are all Americans and will stand together. Unity will always be there...always. You cannot confuse politics with American spirit and love for the country.

I don't tend to agree with the media's spin on much of anything. 9/11 however was a significant event and it is essentially what changed me from a marginally interested, marginally informed (liberal) to a conservative. I guess it was finding out that there were people apparently just like me for whom 9/11 didn't make them angry. Their ideas of how to deal with such a thing came across as some kind of appeasement or some kind of exercise in coping with it persoanlly in contrast to the way I felt which was much more along the lines of "let's roll!"... (and I'm still rolling).
