Zeke, we cannot build enough prisons, and make enough three strikes and you are out laws, and longer mandatory sentencing, and hire enough cops, and write enough laws, to spend our way out of this criminal problem.
We cannot arm the cops heavily enough to eliminate death by firepower, on either side.
We cannot legislate enough to make the problems go away.
We cannot disarm enough to make the problem go away.
The only crucible strong enough to shatter this cycle and recast the mold is economic opportunity, and that requires jobs and education.
I don't see too many people talking about these as part of the solution.

Actually, I am an immense supporter of that. I possess two undergraduate degrees, a graduate degree, have studied abroad in two countries, etc.
But Step One in molding yourself for opportunity is rejecting the idea that any is owed you or that criminal activity is justified in order to obtain it. Refusal to do that is the crux of the issue and that is caused/made worse by entitlement, rationalization, white guilt and excusing the criminal behavior of others due to perceived circumstance. Sum? Anyone who defends Garner and Brown IS part of the problem.
Am I thrilled they died? Not particularly. Do I find it anyone's responsibility but their own? Not a chance.
Choices, people make them. They chose poorly.
And to those who would? Don't try telling me they had no other choices. That's 100% bullshit.

No he's not particularly thrilled they're dead...just generally thrilled.

Woh, slow down a little. As you said, Step 1 is survival.
If survival is the most important criteria for a cop, then it also is good form to be the same for residents.

Dead criminal > Dead Officer.
Thrilling? No. But it's simple math.

All that is required is complying with the law or, if you're not complying, failing to resist arrest.
Instantaneous survival!

Really?
At least, in this case, the cop was fired and not "suspended with pay" as is so often the case. More importantly, he was charged with aggravated assault.
And without a grand jury to fuck things up.
But then there's this.

1. Not pretty but that was a VERY aggressive movement in a pro carry State. With the guy out of the truck, diving headlong back in? My first instinct was "oh shit," even though I knew what was coming.
I'm looking forward to how this distills.
2. I don't have 36 minutes right now so I can't comment.

Second link first.
Of course, it's hard to question the credibility of that award winning journalist Carswell Lightnose but, madman that I am, I will critique the audio. It appears to be the exact same clip, over and over again, not just the same words but the same utterance of those words. Also, the words are screwed up. The call isn't "What do we want?.... When do we want it?" but "What do we want?.... What do we want?" I can't say anything about the response but, given the phonied up call, I'm not sure I need to. Then there's the edit. There are three chants. The transitions between chant #1 and "Dead Cops" isn't clean. It's clearly doctored. It's exactly the same between the "Dead Cops" chant and chant #3, a dirty edit and clearly faked with no corresponding jump in the video.
Now, your first link. There's no audio AT ALL, just an assertion that such was chanted in the "notoriously liberal" city of Portland. The Daily Caller, Tucker Carlson's little diversion when he's not assaulting "homos" in public restrooms.
His and yours are the only weak minds in evidence.
John
