Social media and the war on terror

http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/18/world/...ndex.html?c=us

Seems to me that I remember hearing that the Boston bombers used social media (I think, but could be wrong). In any case, it would be an easy and convenient way to communicate. How effective the state department's efforts are in deterring would be terrorists is questionable, but they could glean a lot of information regardless.

I grok your sentiment.

Here in Kansas City, there has been a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth related to what was known about our recent shooter prior to him -- allegedly -- committing murder.

1. It's typically from dumb ass Teahadists.
2. They hate it when I point out the following:

So, do you want Big Brother or not? Because you cannot simultaneously wail about lack of government oversight and lament government intrusion into lives for enhanced safety.

It's one or the other.

Inevitably, they just get mad.

Only Middle Eastern Muslims are terrorists. When a white, American, military veteran goes berserk and blows up federal office buildings to make a political statement, he's........well, he's a...........see, he did it because he loves America and hates.............

Ummmmm. Let me get back to you on that one.

"Stranger in a Strange land' was a hugh literary phenomenon in the 1960s and I suppose it was assumed that the writings of Robert Heinlein would become oft-referred classics in general, but he seems to have faded in the common consciousness. Nonetheless still popular in some circles tho' more acceptable and 'mainstream' then "The Turner Diaries" beloved by fringe conspiracy theorists, RH is seen by some as an advocate of rightist individualism and his distopian ideas have been displaced by a different viewpoint of centralized tyranny typified by the likes of the 'The Hunger Games' and 'Divergent' series.
