The one point is that these are "appelate" courts, they don't go out and round up cases to try. So it must be the "people" you trust so much that are bringing things to the courts, such as "Citizens United"

Mencken's most famous quote, "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.")

This link and the imbedded linked article are also enlightening. Even though there may be problems with appointed judges, elected ones are even worse.

We here in Merryland still use that outmoded concept and we have some of the most male chauvinistic judges extant. It is funny, when some of Florence's aquaintenances heard she was about to marry a Canadian they siad "Oh that's crazy, they are all male chavinists." Hell, I did not even know what the word meant until I had been here for 6 months.

We elect judges here in o-hi-o. There's been talk of reform. Of course it was the last reform that changed it from appointed to elected

So you guys really don't think we should be a democracy? Do I have that right?

Having judges appointed by the people we elect is still consistent with democracy. After all, the Founders, who we all know never made a mistake, originally wanted senators appointed by elected officials at the state level.

Yeh, the Founders. What a bunch of intellectual elites.

You mean the same majority of people who elected Obama, Pelosi and Reid (and Gore, for that matter)? You're now conceding that they were the smart ones after all?
