Efforts to rehabilitate the SWASTIKA

Recently a pro swastika banner was flown over NY beaches advertising the
Raelian movement web site which seeks to rehabilitate the swastika.

This caused some outrage especially among Jewish residents.

However it achieved some distillation on the history of the symbol, showing
apart from its connection to Nazism the swastika has historical meaning of peace and love to eastern peoples like Hindus and Buddhists.

Wasn't the swastika and Indian symbol and the Nazis reversed it? If so then they really did not use the true symbol.

I believe that the Nazzis rotated the swastika by 45 degrees on their flag.

Both the left and right hand versions of the swastika have been used by various cultures at various times. But it's just a symbol--with some big Nazi freight on it now. There's no special need at this time to try to buck that and 'rehabilitate' it, except, as I said, if you're seeking to make a fuss on purpose....

Nothing inherently bad about the symbol which has been around for thousands of years, but you are right about the Nazi freight. They beshitted it and it will take a long time for it to unshit itself.
