I have a friend who got hit for cheating on his small (internet based) business taxes to the tune of $13,000. They rode his ass hard, had him scared to death for about six months. Threatened him with jail---the whole nine yards. But, he made earnest effort to settle his debt. In the end, they let him pay 10%, or $1,300 of the $13,000 and let him skate for the rest.

But, then, that was 12 years ago...............

He and his wife still have their business.....and pay their taxes.
